CSS Recruitment and Training are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Officer in Birmingham.Working HoursMonday - Thursday | 8am - 5pmFriday | 8am - 3pmKey ResponsibilitiesProvide HSE advice and support to managers, supervisors, and colleagues regarding the entire company workforce, subcontracted labour, other site workers and members of the publicTo develop a strong working relationship with all levels of employees and promote a culture of engagement and continual improvementTo create safe systems of work RAMS etc and ensure these are being effectively appliedTo complete HSE site inspectionsTo complete incident investigations and identify and implement improvement measuresBecome aware of the functions of other members of staff in the department as they affect your workTo attend necessary meetings as requiredTo undertake assigned work in a professional and efficient way, in compliance with current HSE legislation, regulatory requirements and the company’s integrated management systemsTo communicate in a professional, helpful and non-prejudicial manner in all your dealings with clients and customers as you will be regarded as a representative of your department and the company, and you should behave accordinglyTo behave in a professional manner and always cooperate with all other members of staffDeliver regular toolbox talksReview and record First Aid and spill kit provision across all sitesTo maintain high standards of work within your departmentAny other duties deemed necessary by managementRequirementsNEBOSH Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Health & SafetyProven HSE experience for a minimum of 5 yearsExperience of working in new build and M&E construction environmentsExperience of undertaking health and safety auditsExperience of lifting operations and associated hazardsExperience of creating RAMS for complex worksKnowledge of health and safety aspects, including legislation and technical standardsAccident and incident investigation experienceExcellent attention to detail, organisational, planning and communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to deal with clients & internal staffAbility to influence change and challenge those who flaunt Health & Safety rules and guidanceAbility to work under pressure and on own initiatives to achieve self and team targetsAbility to proactively deal with employees all levels across the company to come up with solutionsProficient in Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook Ability to travel to other sites across the UKFull UK driving license Salary£40,000 - £45,000 per annum
