About The RoleA champion of reconditioning within the MVS site, you’ll work closely with customers to communicate the value of vehicle enhancements, highlighting the added quality, improved performance, and potential uplift in market value that professional refurbishment brings.The Workshop Manager leads the full end-to-end journey of customer vehicles through the refurbishment process—ensuring every job is completed efficiently, on time, and to an exceptional standard. You’ll play a key role in maximising site performance, using resources, expertise, and workshop capacity to their fullest potential.Success in this role calls for proven experience in vehicle refurbishment, strong client relationship management, and the ability to inspire and drive your team. You’ll motivate and guide Team Members to deliver outstanding productivity, efficiency, and results across the workshop.What You’ll Be DoingLead a high-performing team, ensuring the department consistently meets its goals and delivers exceptional customer satisfaction.Manage people matters promptly and professionally, escalating complex cases in partnership with the HR Business Partner.Ensure all branded stock is processed in line with agreed SLAs, maintaining consistency and reliability across every operation.Monitor daily inspection performance, working closely with managers to prioritise aged, flipped, and time-sensitive work.Review daily panel count and AFS performance, identifying gaps and supporting the team in balancing workload and priorities.Support rental partners, ensuring seamless authorisation and upgrade processes in line with customer SLAs.Act as the primary contact for subcontractors, managing daily production flow and ensuring shop targets are consistently met.Lead daily operational meetings, reviewing the previous 24 hours’ performance and driving clear action plans for recovery and improvement.Maintain exceptional vehicle quality standards, supported by the functional manager to ensure all outputs meet expectations.Prepare and present weekly contract-performance reports to the Head of Department, General Manager, and accounts team as required.Champion continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to increase capacity, reduce cycle times, and streamline workflow.Optimise workshop productivity, collaborating with onsite departments to ensure efficiency and strong production numbers.Enhance systems and processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and output across the BodyshopEnsure all work complies with contract requirements and manufacturer guidelines, always maintaining accuracy and adherence.Uphold all Cox Automotive environmental policies and safe-working standards, creating a culture of safety and responsibility.Monitor vehicle workmanship, ensuring every repair and refurbishment meets the highest standard.Oversee accurate warranty documentation, ensuring all procedures and return requirements are fully met.Act as a key link between the business and its customers, attending client meetings and representing the operation professionally.Manage parts stock levels with the Parts Supervisor, ensuring timely delivery and accurate warranty returns (DIME).Work closely with the People Team to drive engagement, attract and retain top talent, and address underperformance effectively.Champion our Guiding Principles—doing the right thing, leading by example, and bringing out the best in everyone.Manage the P&L for the account, highlighting any budget risks or discrepancies to the General Manager and Operations Director.
What We’re Looking ForStrong technical expertise, gained through hands-on experience and time served within the automotive Bodyshop or relevant specialist area.Up-to-date diagnostic knowledge, with familiarity in Pathfinder diagnostic software and TOPIx systems considered a strong advantage.Proven experience in large-scale automotive or manufacturing environments, with an understanding of high-volume operational demands.Results-driven mindset, with a creative and pragmatic approach to problem-solving and overcoming operational challenges.Strong leadership capability, with the ability to motivate, engage, and develop a diverse team in a fast-paced and complex setting.Excellent Health & Safety knowledge, ensuring safe working practices and compliance across the operation.Highly effective communicator, skilled in verbal, written, presentation, influencing, and negotiation techniques.Exceptional organisational skills, able to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, and meet demanding deadlines.Dependable and accountable, with an agile working style and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes within set timescales.Strong relationship builder, able to develop trusted partnerships with customers and collaborate to achieve shared goals.Confident reporting and data skills, ensuring performance is accurately tracked and communicated in line with contractual requirements.
