Operating from large-scale facilities in the West Midlands, they work with customers across the UK and internationally, supporting sectors including Defence, Aerospace, Engineering, Manufacturing, Energy and Industrial Equipment. Due to continued growth and increasing demand, they are now looking to recruit an ambitious Sales Account Manager who can develop long-term customer relationships whilst identifying new commercial opportunities to help drive the next stage of the company's growth.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced B2B sales professional who enjoys building relationships, managing key accounts and working within a technical, project-led environment.
The Role
Reporting into the senior management team, you will take ownership of an existing portfolio of customers whilst proactively developing new business opportunities across a range of industrial sectors.
You'll become the trusted point of contact for customers from initial enquiry through to project completion, ensuring exceptional service whilst identifying opportunities to increase revenue through additional products and services.
Working closely with internal departments including Estimating, Production, Operations, Costings and Administration, you'll ensure projects are delivered efficiently whilst maintaining the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
This is a varied role that combines account management, business development, customer service and commercial negotiation.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and develop an established portfolio of key customer accounts.
Build strong, long-term relationships with new and existing customers.
Identify new business opportunities through networking, referrals and market research.
Generate revenue through upselling, cross-selling and identifying additional service requirements.
Prepare quotations and commercial proposals in collaboration with internal teams.
Support contract negotiations, service agreements and commercial discussions.
Monitor customer performance, sales activity and profitability.
Produce regular account reviews, sales forecasts and pipeline reports.
Act as the primary contact for customer enquiries, resolving issues promptly and professionally.
Liaise daily with Production, Costings, Administration and Operations to ensure projects are delivered on time and to customer expectations.
Support marketing initiatives, exhibitions and industry events to promote the business.
Represent the company professionally when visiting customers across the UK.
Maintain accurate CRM records and sales activity reports.
Continuously monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities.
The Ideal Candidate
Our client is looking for an enthusiastic sales professional who enjoys developing lasting customer relationships and has a genuine passion for delivering outstanding service.
You'll be commercially aware, highly organised and comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Ideally you will have:
Previous experience as a Sales Account Manager, Business Development Manager or Sales Executive.
Experience selling within Manufacturing, Engineering, Export Packaging, Logistics, Industrial Services or a related B2B environment.
Previous exposure to Defence, Commercial Export or Industrial Packaging sectors would be highly advantageous.
Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Ability to understand technical customer requirements and convert them into commercial opportunities.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Experience using CRM systems together with Microsoft Office.
Commercial awareness with the ability to maximise account profitability.
A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Experience
Knowledge of BS1133 Export Packing Standards .
Understanding of Ministry of Defence (MoD) packing requirements.
Experience working with export documentation, packaging specifications or industrial manufacturing environments.
