Connex Education is working in partnership with a number of schools across Stoke-on-Trent to recruit SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistants. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with experience in education, care, or support work who are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people facing social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. These roles are available for an immediate start.Our partner schools support pupils with a range of SEMH needs and create nurturing, structured environments where all children are encouraged to thrive. Person Specification
Experienced in working with children or young people with SEMH needs, either in a school, care, youth work, or similar setting
Confident in managing challenging behaviour and using de-escalation strategies effectively
Patient, empathetic, and emotionally resilient, with a calm and consistent approach
Comfortable supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, providing both academic and emotional support
Able to build trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced trauma or disrupted education
Flexible and adaptable, able to respond to the changing needs of pupils throughout the day
DBS on the Update Service, or willing to apply for a new one through Connex Education
