    All of our kitchens are led by our sustainable values. We work hard to source high quality, local and seasonal produce, are making progress towards zero waste kitchens by 2030. We also partner with our suppliers to ensure only ethically sourced palm oil enters our kitchens.
    Our venues, all held within our 128 acre site of stunning gardens, will jointly operate a turnover of £12.5 million. As a not for profit, everything we make is ploughed into conservation both here in the UK and around the world. Your role has a huge part to play in delivering our mission.

    The RoleWe have a number of roles available across our Food & Beverage outlets. These include: our Heritage venues - The Oakfield our gastro pub and The Square our events venue, as well as Junes Food Court where we have a burger counter, fish and chip counter and a Pizza section with a Pizza oven. There are also three other outlets around site that you may be required to support in. You will be directly responsible for supporting the Sous Chef and Head Chef in making sure the department is driving the provision of fresh, quality ingredients whilst meeting our sustainable values.
    You will:Provide support in the day-to-day running of the kitchen. Deputise for the Sous Chef in their absence and act as the first point of contact for service recoveryProduce food for customers of our restaurants and events to the highest standards in order to maximise profit and deliver a world class experiences Train and mentor Chef de Parties, Line Chefs and Seasonal team members to ensure effective and efficient work practiceWork collaboratively with the front of house team to ensure seamless delivery Adhere to, and ensure team members adhere to, health and hygiene, standard operating procedures and safe working practices including food safety systems and associated legislation (for example HACCP) Ensure correct stock levels on a day-to-day basis, placing order requests to the Sous Chef, and accepting deliveries, ensuring they are correct and rotating stock as required

    Plant & Vehicle Fitter
    We currently have an exciting opportunity for a skilled technician with broad experience of plant and vehicle maintenance and repair, to apply their practice here in our unique work setting as part of our dynamic Facilities Management team.
    Routine plant maintenance and repair is conducted here on site, managed by the Plant & Vehicle Fitter. Plant maintenance and repair (e.g. excavators, tractors) will be the primary focus, but you will also work with a small fleet of vehicles, trailers and plant machinery (e.g. chainsaws, generators, mowers). Knowledge of ageing machinery would be an advantage, and being self-motivated and comfortable working both on your own and as part of a large team, is key.

    Our Plant & Vehicle Technician will provide technical expertise needed to plan, oversee and carry out the maintenance. Core duties will include:Oversee and plan the annual maintenance and upkeep of small fleet of plant, vehicles and trailers, as well as a variety of plant machinery such as chainsaws, generators and mowers.Provide the technical expertise performing routine maintenance (oil changes, brake repairs, etc.), diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems on various plant and vehicles.Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential issues and ensure plant, vehicles and machinery are safe, roadworthy and compliant.Identify and resolve complex mechanical issues, using diagnostic tools and systems.Replace or repair defective parts on plant, vehicles and machinery.Carry out tests and checks in preparation for MOT’s.Maintain a due diligence in terms of your own personal health and safety and for those around you.Maintain the standards of the team and strive to improve within your capability.Achieve personal targets and make efficient use of time and material resources.Be part of the team and contribute proactively within your capabilities.

    We currently have an exciting vacancy for a Welder Fabricator (Blacksmith) to join our Facilities team.
    The Role
    Working as part of our skilled Facilities team, the Welder Fabricator (Blacksmith) will provide skilled welding and fabricating technical expertise; be competent, economic and professional in maintaining, upgrading and constructing metal works across the Zoo Site. As well as servicing, inspecting, and repairing mechanical components i.e. Animal Gates & Slides and containment systems across the entire Zoo Site.
    As a Welder Fabricator (Blacksmith), you will: To deliver a skilled and professional engineering service. Ensuring that all responsive and planned works tasked, including monitoring and record keeping, are undertaken in an effective, efficient and safe manner. To provide technical expertise in steel construction, metal fabrication and automated/manual mechanical solutions. Conduct thorough inspections and identify potential issues with animal containment systems, slides and doors ensuring they are safe and operating correctly. Identify and resolve complex mechanical issues with regards to remote slide and door operation. Repair and identify damaged components of building fabric and equipment. To maintain a due diligence in terms of your own personal health and safety and for those around you. To be part of and maintain the standards of the team and strive to improve within your capability. To achieve personal targets and make efficient use of time and material resources.
