    Are you looking for a rewarding volunteering role that involves talking to people, getting out and about in the community and giving practical energy saving advice?
    Safe and Warm Somerset is a free advice service dedicated to helping people in Somerset stay warm and healthy in their homes. We\\\'re looking for volunteers to join our team.
    We\\\'ll give you full training and lots of opportunities to connect with other volunteers.
    What does the role involve?
    Running a monthly stall in the community, giving face-to-face energy advice. This could include talking to people about their energy bills, how to save energy at home, how to work their heating controls or even energy saving home improvements like insulation in their home. Passing on people who may need more in-depth support to our team. Managing resources like information leaflets to distribute at the stall. Providing updates to project staff about how the stall is going, including providing rough numbers of people spoken to.

    Find it easy to chat to people of different ages and backgrounds. Have attention to detail and can record someone\\\'s details carefully and accurately. Are interested in helping people lower their bills and stay warm, while also reducing their carbon footprint. Are confident, friendly, and able to work independently. Are reliable and committed to attending events.
    ... then this role is for you!
    You don\\\'t need any existing experience giving energy advice. We\\\'ll give you comprehensive training and you\\\'ll be supported to set up your stall, working alongside one of our experienced caseworkers to begin with. As you feel more confident you will take over running of the stall yourself.
    We\\\'re looking for at least one volunteer to run a monthly stall in each of the following locations: Bridgewater, Taunton, Wellington, Burnham-on-Sea, Highbridge, Chard, Minehead, Dulverton, Yeovil and Wincanton. If you\\\'re interested in doing more than one stall, please let us know.
    Our training and support package:
    We\\\'ll offer both on-the-job and formal training, including an opportunity to undertake a City and Guilds Energy Awareness qualification . Invitations to CSE Volunteer training and social events. Opportunity to join CSE staff seminars or meetings appropriate to the work you are doing. Travel expenses and subsistence paid for a full day of volunteering.

    We are seeking an organised team-player who previously worked with or volunteered for the armed forces to deliver events, talks and presentations and give energy advice across South Wiltshire.

    Part time, Fixed term contract (12 months)About the role:Help deliver the UKSPF project by conducting outreach, home visits and training to both the armed services community and other vulnerable households and groups in Wiltshire.Duties and Responsibilities:An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:To travel across South Wiltshire to deliver events, talks and presentations and give advice to people in their own homes.To provide face-to-face support for Wiltshire residents with energy-related issues so that they can stay safe, warm and healthy at home.To deliver outreach support to Wiltshire's armed services community.Train health and community professionals and volunteers in those organisations to deliver basic energy advice, including refresher training.To identify energy improvements that can be made to a property and make appropriate referrals for them (such as ECO, Household Support Grant etc.).Deliver home visits for residents with multiple issues, who are unable to access support outside the home or via phone/internet.Refer clients appropriately for casework if they have more complex needs (e.g., billing issues, energy debt, supplier complaints).To help vulnerable clients make applications for grants and switch energy tariffs.Build on existing partnerships with health and community partners by providing in-depth training sessions covering the basics of energy advice, to enable these partners to support their clients themselves.Build new partnerships in Wiltshire, provide fuel poverty trigger-training sessions, and raise the profile of Warm and Safe Wiltshire.To provide administrative support to the delivery of the project and maintain accurate and detailed records of all interactions with clients.To see a more detailed list of responsibilities please see the supporting documents attached.
