Field Engineer / Field Operations Engineer - Hybrid (North UK)Are you someone who enjoys being out in the field, working with customers, coordinating contractors, and taking real ownership of projects end to end? Do you like variety, autonomy, and being trusted to get things done properly?
We're working with a well-established digital communications business that partners with property managers, developers, and managing agents across the UK. They're now scaling beyond start-up mode and are looking to strengthen their Field Operations / Field Engineer capability across the North of England.
This is a hybrid role: home-based, with around 60% of your time spent on-site across the North West, Midlands, and occasionally further afield.
The Role
You'll sit within a small, hands-on operations team and take responsibility for projects from the very start through to aftercare.
That includes: Carrying out site surveys to assess locations, power and data requirements, and recommending screen placement, size, and quantity
Coordinating and managing external contractors to complete installations
Attending site during installs, commissioning equipment, documenting works, and signing projects off
Providing aftercare and fault resolution when issues arise (most commonly connectivity-related)
Acting as a point of contact for property managers, dealing with queries and occasional conflict professionally
Maintaining accurate documentation via CRM and internal systems (certificates, photos, records, asset management)
Supporting wider operations and account management activity as the business continues to grow What They're Looking For
This role suits someone who enjoys responsibility and autonomy rather than being micromanaged.
Ideal background includes: 3+ years' experience in a field-based role within property, operations, facilities, engineering or similar
Experience managing or coordinating contractors and third-party engineers
Strong communication skills - comfortable dealing with property managers, residents, contractors and internal teams
Confident using IT systems, CRM tools and documentation workflows
Ability to plan your own time, manage budgets, and prioritise work effectively
Full UK driving licence Experience in electrical installations, network connectivity, fibre/broadband, or technical field work is highly beneficial but not essential if you bring the right mindset and transferable experience.
Location & Travel Ideally based along the M6 corridor / Cheshire / North West
Travel mainly across the North of England, Midlands, and occasionally Scotland
Initially you'll use your own vehicle (fuel expenses covered), with a company van provided after probation Package & Progression £35,000 - £39,000 salary
Statutory benefits, with flexibility around time off in lieu
A genuinely flexible, trust-based culture
Clear progression opportunities as the field team grows - including potential team-lead responsibilities in future Why This Role?
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to step into a trusted, visible role within a growing business - where good work is noticed, communication matters, and there's genuine scope to grow with the company.
