Job Summary We are currently seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join the Component Engineering Base Engine Team as we approach a period of significant investment in new design to meet our ever changing energy landscape. Tasks will include: Design and packaging of a variety of core engine components which include: - Major aluminium and cast iron castings, geartrain, valvetrain, drivetrain and in-cylinder components. Components related to breather, cooling & lubrication systems, FEAD systems Working in a multi-disciplined global team to ensure solutions meet customer, durability and functional requirements Determining root cause and developing solutions for complex issues arising from the Quality and Manufacturing environments Developing strong relationships with suppliers where travel is encouraged to ensure design solutions are aligned to high quality and cost expectations Planning and managing project and sub-project deliverables, ability to lead Spend up to 20% of your time coaching less experienced Engineers in technical aspects or support on task delivery Conducting risk assessment through effective FMEA generation on components and systems to identify and address design risks and determine validation needs. Your role will be responsible for defining cooling system requirements at the start of any new product development cycle, utilize analytical tools to determine optimum system design, and collaborating with our purchasing team to evaluate various supplier’s cooling system components.
