    Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Estimator (Contract) Location: London Contract Length: 6 Months Rate: £200£220 per day Start Date: ASAP Overview An established commercial fit-out and workplace delivery business is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join the team on a 6-month contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a degree-qualified Quantity Surveyor at the early stages of their career to gain exposure to high-profile commercial interior fit-out and refurbishment projects. The successful candidate will support both the commercial and pre-construction teams, assisting with cost planning, tendering, procurement, valuations, and financial reporting throughout project lifecycles. Key Responsibilities Assist with the preparation of detailed cost estimates and tender submissions. Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation to assess project costs. Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations. Support the preparation of bills of quantities and cost plans. Assist in procurement activities and subcontract package administration. Monitor project costs and identify potential cost risks. Support the preparation of valuations, variations, and final accounts. Assist with monthly cost reporting and forecasting. Liaise with project managers, site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers. Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation. Ensure compliance with company commercial procedures and contractual requirements. Support senior quantity surveyors with commercial management duties across multiple projects. Requirements Degree in Quantity Surveying or HND in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management. Approximately 23 years post-graduate quantity surveying experience. Previous experience within commercial fit-out, interiors, refurbishment, construction, or workplace projects preferred. Understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes. Experience assisting with tendering and estimating activities. Strong numerical and analytical skills. Proficient with Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting tools. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced project environment. Available to start within the next three weeks. Desirable Experience CAT A / CAT B fit-out projects. Commercial office refurbishment schemes. Workplace and interior construction projects. Exposure to JCT contracts. Experience working for a main contractor, fit-out contractor, or consultancy.
