  • Senior Finance Assistant

    Salary £27,711 to £30,060 pro rata per annum Grade D Two-year fixed term contract 22.5 hours An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small, busy Finance Team to assist in the day-to-day management of the Authority’s financial systems. The role will be responsible for reviewing and checking the work of the Finance Assistants, reconciling control accounts, preparing the quarterly VAT return, monitoring cashflow requirements and producing notes for the statutory year end accounts. Applicants should have experience in a similar role and ideally have an AAT qualification. We are looking for a proactive person who is a problem solver, works well in a team and has good communication skills via several platforms. While the candidate is new to the role, they will initially be office based. However, subject to the candidate successfully completing tasks, the role will be split between home and the office, subject to a trial period.     Salary £30,559 to £32,654 pro rata per annum Grade E Permanent 21 hours per week We are seeking a passionate individual who would relish the opportunity to work in biodiversity management of the Broads National Park, providing ecological technical expertise, with particular focus on nature conservation. The successful candidate will hold a relevant environment degree and understand environmental and conservation issues relating to wetland and aquatic ecosystems. Knowledge and experience in planning and undertaking environmental monitoring in aquatic systems is required. The Ecology team provide ecological advice as part of the Authority’s statutory planning function; familiarity of the planning system and consultation responses would therefore be beneficial. Experience of planning practical work across a range of conservation and countryside management situations is essential. Experience in livestock management is desirable as the role involves working with the Broads Authority’s grazing animals. You must also possess good IT skills and have working knowledge of GIS applications. The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Tuesday 28 January 2025.   • Operations Technician

    Operations Technician £26,421 - £28,770 per annum Grade D 37 hours per week Fixed term contract for 12 months We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual to assist with the maintenance of the Broads National Park. The successful candidate will be confident in a range of practical skills and working knowledge, such as boat handling, use of brushcutter/chainsaw, power tools and other small construction plant & equipment. Regular team-working, often with volunteers, in wetland and remote locations, means we are looking for a highly motivated, and well organised strong team player. Applicants should have a current driving licence. As a mobile member of staff, the daily work base will vary across the Broads and transport will be provided. Practical construction experience in countryside furniture and working on, or near, water are all highly advantageous. The ability to work outside in all weather conditions for long periods is essential. The closing date for applications is midday on Monday 14 October.
