Role Purpose The purpose of this role is to ensure the efficient, effective operational co-ordination and delivery of B2B Exams and Projects at the right cost and customer experience. The role is to support B2B Customers on operational, system and technical issues and report issues and resolutions to the Account Relationship Manager to develop and retain the Account. This role will also provide technical support for all digital devices during exams sessions. This includes ensuring that the necessary devices are in good working order, properly set up and ready for exam use. The role will need to be on standby during exam sessions and troubleshoot or escalate issues for prompt resolution. Main Accountabilities: Service delivery and Operations ▪ Support registration of exam entries, responding to queries or issues ▪ Provides technical assistance leading up to and on Test Day ▪ Undertakes bulk upload and cash reconciling ▪ Project management and vendor management to ensure procurement, regular servicing and readiness of use of IT related equipment to ensure smooth delivery of exam services. ▪ Ensures technical compliance of equipment and connectivity at test venues ▪ Plans and prioritises own work activities, which span across a range of different work streams, responding to changing and at times competing requirements to ensure effective delivery of responsibilities over a weekly/monthly time horizon. ▪ Supports all relevant to pre-test, test day, post-test services and procedures. ▪ Coordinate with test day operations coordinator relevant tasks of pre-test, test day and post test. Customers/ Relationship and stakeholders ▪ Supporting continuous improvement in the efficiency/cost effectiveness/quality of service delivery/systems in the unit or department ▪ Proactively work with Operations Manager to deliver satisfactory and timely resolution of customer (internal or external) complaints, coordinating input from other team members as required. Ensures the customer is kept informed throughout the process. ▪ Acts as ‘help desk’ to venue staff and customers / candidates ▪ Develops good working relationships and engagement with Venue Staff and appropriate colleagues throughout the BC to facilitate effective and efficient service delivery. ▪ Act as point of contact and manage escalated issues in country from Venue Supervisors and Venues, supported by Operations Manager / Cluster team when required. Risk and compliance ▪ Adhere to Quality and Compliance Assurance (QCA) standards, exams boards standards & guidelines, and IELTS audit requirements at all times. Strict adherence to exam security and administration requirements is an essential part of the job ▪ Undertake contingency and risk management on the ground, liaise with Local IT, Examiner or Venue Staff to ensure alignment on communications. ▪ Follows agreed corporate risk management processes and procedures when delivering services (e.g. child protection, security policies, financial protocols, anti-fraud measures) to protect the interests of the BC and its customers at all times. Our portfolio is delivered through a set of globally led programmes, one of which is Alumni UK, the global network for people from around the world who have studied in the UK.  Every year, more than 400,000 international students choose to study in the UK – a number which is further increased by those who take UK higher education qualifications online, via transnational education, or who study for a semester in the UK.  The Alumni UK programme aims to strengthen the global network of UK alumni, providing opportunities for personal and professional development, for networking and for showcasing examples of alumni achievement.  The Role:
    The Community and Content Manager will play a pivotal role in managing the online community of international UK alumni.  You will lead on the ongoing development of our current online collaboration platform and work with the Alumni UK team to engage with alumni through content development, training opportunities and other.
    You will work with the Programme Development Manager on the procurement of an off-the-shelf collaboration platform, which will be built to fit the needs of the Alumni UK programme.   
    Accountabilities: Operational delivery 
    • Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the British Council’s Alumni UK online platform (working with external provider to fix bugs, add new features etc)
    • Be the first point of contact for enquires from alumni via the Alumni UK mailbox, ensuring enquiries are dealt with accordingly or redirected. Enquiries could cover technical access issues, reporting of inappropriate content, safeguarding matters etc. 
    • Build a vibrant online community of international UK alumni from all around the world by actively encouraging engagement and collaboration between alumni
    • Work closely with colleagues across the British Council global network to ensure promotion of events and collect content from other programmes. Ensure there are adequate administrators for the alumni platform and that sufficient training is provided. 
    Continuous improvement and development of the Alumni UK platform
    • Work with the Programme Development Manager to scope out future developments for the alumni platform (this will include the lengthy procurement of a fit for purpose Alumni collaboration platform).
    • Project manage the introduction of new features and functionality, working with the technical provider and communicating these changes to the platform users; Alumni, UK HE universities and British Council UK and global staff.
    • Explore new and creative ways to engage international UK alumni online. Test and implement these initiatives with the alumni network on an ongoing basis 
    • Develop and lead a community of practice for alumni platform administrators and be their point of contact for any queries regarding the alumni platform 
    Contract management 
    • Work closely with the alumni platform technical provider to ensure the platform is always fully functional and any issues are reported and dealt with in a timely manner 
    • Manage the contract with the platform provider to ensure they meet all of their commitments 
    Content management 
    • Work closely with the marketing manager to co-ordinate messaging across the alumni platform, direct marketing and social media 
    • Develop content for the alumni platform and be responsible for editing content across the platform to ensure consistency and professionalism 
    • Develop a content plan for the alumni platform and work with content producers to see this delivered 
    Reporting 
    • Be responsible for regular reporting on the alumni platform, utilising the platforms integrated reporting functionality and other available analytics
    • Have full visibility and knowledge of alumni analytics ahead of weekly progress team meetings (via Google analytics).

The British Council’s 2020 vision for English & Examinations is to be the world authority in high quality English language teaching, learning and assessment, as well as the International distributor of choice for UK professional and school qualifications. The Examinations business makes a significant contribution to British Council financial sustainability, and as such, it is essential that the business evolves in order to maintain its position in a fast-changing operating context. There is a need to standardise and automate activities across the globe to deliver efficiencies, and there is also a requirement to develop new digital products and services to meet changing customer demands and competitive pressures. In a cost and resource-constrained environment, balancing the on-going requirements and allocation of funds will be critical, as will the integration and planning of the implementation of the different changes across a global network of 110+ countries charged with the on-going delivery of impact and income whilst changing key elements of the supporting operational platform. Main opportunities/challenges for this role: Flexibility in working hours is expected in order to meet operational needs. Weekend work will be the norm, not the exception. However, two consecutive days off per week are guaranteed. The job will require regular travel between Beirut and Tripoli and other cities as the business expands.
