    Main Accountabilities:

    Teaching

    Plan, prepare and deliver high quality English language teaching that meets the needs of different customer groups taking into account individual learning needs and modes of learning

    Ensure teaching meets British Council Global Teaching Standards, as well as organisational and learner expectations.

    Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to help manage students’ performance throughout their learning, and actively promote learner autonomy and progress

    Actively engage in professional development and performance management to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning and maintain British Council’s position at the forefront of best ELT practices.

    Teaching Centre Activities

    Support teaching centre’s activities and British Council plans

    Attend staff meetings and otherwise contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of English language courses, materials and related services, in order to meet students’ needs by actively working as a member of the teaching team

    Support local marketing and promotional strategy, and assist the teaching centre team in delivering excellent customer service through dissemination of information and communications with students

    Complete teaching related administrative tasks to specified standards and uphold professional responsibilities and values. Ensure British Council’s values and behaviours are reflected in their work

    Customers & Stakeholders

    Maintain good relationships with customers and colleagues

    Ensure customers are aware of British Council’s cultural relations role and help develop opportunity for students to gain some understanding of the UK and its values and to participate in inter-cultural interactions either in class or as out of class activity

    Role Purpose

    The post holder will act as British Council’s ambassador, providing a seamless customer experience to customers and students in handling enquiries about British Council English language and Examination services, meeting agreed targets, objectives, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
    The overall objective of a Customer Service and Sales Officer is to secure excellent sales results (from new and existing students and prospective Exams candidates) to assist the Teaching Centre and Exams teams to meet or exceed their sales targets. 

    Main Accountabilities:

    1. Day to Day Customer service delivery
    • Provide a consistent and positive customer experience in line with the Global Customer Service Strategy and relevant corporate standards and polices
    • Handle first-level enquiries received in person, via email, social media, chat or telephone on relevant aspects of the British Council’s activities / products, in a friendly and professional manner, in line with Customer Service standards, and forward all 2nd level enquiries to relevant colleagues, ensuring they are attended to within specified timelines
    • Deliver accurate information to customers and manage their expectations to ensure a smooth customer journey
    • Ensure the standard response bank is regularly refreshed to respond to customer queries 
    • Carry out all reception and registration duties in line with relevant corporate standards and policies. All physical spaces accessible to customers should reflect the British Council brand
    • As the frontline of the British Council, to ensure that dress sense and tone of voice is representative of the organisational brand values and standards
    • Participate in British Council activities as and when they occur, providing an effective presence, and ensuring that corporate requirements are met whenever activity takes place
    • Record all forms of customer data and records accurately via agreed online and offline tools
    • Contribute to the Voice of the Customer programme by regularly sharing weekly insights and comments gathered from customers through formal and informal channels
    • Maintain an up-to-date contact database of all our customers, in relevant segments, within agreed CRM procedures
    • Support delivery of high quality, up to date training and testing for young learners and adults
    • Ensure that all interactions are as per Exams and Teaching Centre standards and Corporate Child protection and Safe-Guarding policies
    2. Sales
    • Be accountable for agreed individual income and conversion targets on a monthly basis
    • Build rapport with prospective customers to gain understanding and information to respond to their specific needs and requirements 
    • Be the single point of contact for assigned opportunities, guiding them through the journey from first enquiry to final sale
    • Make outbound calls to support customers dropping out at different stages of the customer journey and track conversions. 
    • Capture all opportunities on CRM and send proactive communication to candidates to nurture leads as per process agreed with business
    • Maximise conversion rates of enquiries to sales figures by communicating features and benefits of British Council offers, convincing and influencing prospects to enrol/ register
    • Closely monitor and track conversion rates and achieve daily and monthly targets defined at centre level. Strive to improve conversion rate by keeping abreast of all changes to offering, observing classes , sharing insight with business teams regarding reasons for drop off and handling objections effectively 
    • Maximise opportunities for cross-selling and up-selling
    Proactively follow up customers who do not register after enquiry / consultation and gather information which can be used for future marketing purposes and/or service improvements

    • Contact lapsed students and IELTS registration candidates via phone to reintroduce them to our products (warm calling)
    • Responsible for building own product knowledge through interaction with product managers and using learning portal

    3. Support to Teaching Centre
    • To provide energy and purpose in following the Marketing Action Plan and Academic Quality Plan in agreement with the CSM and Teaching Centre Manager with a view to achieving student and test-taker numbers and income targets
    • Register / reserve / waitlist students in appropriate classes, entering details accurately on TCMS, in a professional and friendly manner
    • Distribute, collect and collate satisfaction surveys for all regular public courses into the agreed documentary scorecard management system to agreed timings and standards
    • Collect and report money collected from customers for placement tests / courses / books / examination registrations and other products / services daily according to FCCF and audit requirements, through cash desks and by issuing receipts for all income received; reconciliation and, accepting refund requests. Cash desks must be balanced and closed accurately with actual received income
    • Record all corporate clients, sponsored students and all Regular Public Course students on TCMS 

    4. Support to Exams
    • Support the delivery of examination services / products through leading on contact, registration and pay and post-test activities to defined quality standards, in order to meet customer needs and support the delivery of the in-country Examinations Business Development Plan 
    • Collect and report money collected from customers for exam services daily according to FCCF and audit requirements, through cash journals and by issuing receipts for all income received; reconciliation and, processing transfers and refunds. Cash desks must be balanced and closed accurately with actual received income
    • Coordinate with other Exams team members on an ongoing basis to ensure a seamless customer journey. This includes timely escalation of unresolved complaints to the concerned teams
    • Manage social media enquiries and complaints in an effective and brand-appropriate manner to create in order to create better customer experience. 
    • Contribute directly to customer service indicators such as customer feedback, mystery shopping and customer effort assessment scores for the Exams centre 
    • Manage data-entry on British Council exams systems such as ORS / SRS for candidate registrations with 100% accuracy 
    • Be accountable for the income receipt process and income recognition/ reconciliation support to Accountant and relevant Exams Manager 


    5. Any other administrative duties that may be assigned by Management which may include but are not limited to creating POs, counting cash, sending SMS and email communications to customers, processing bank transfers, etc.

    The Team:

    This role sits within the Cultural Engagement which brings together our portfolio of work in arts, education, English, and research. Our portfolio is delivered through a set of globally led programmes, one of which is Alumni UK, the global network for people from around the world who have studied in the UK. 

    Every year, more than 400,000 international students choose to study in the UK – a number which is further increased by those who take UK higher education qualifications online, via transnational education, or who study for a semester in the UK. 

    The Alumni UK programme aims to strengthen the global network of UK alumni, providing opportunities for personal and professional development, for networking and for showcasing examples of alumni achievement. 

    The Role:


    The Community and Content Manager will play a pivotal role in managing the online community of international UK alumni. 

    You will lead on the ongoing development of our current online collaboration platform and work with the Alumni UK team to engage with alumni through content development, training opportunities and other.


    You will work with the Programme Development Manager on the procurement of an off-the-shelf collaboration platform, which will be built to fit the needs of the Alumni UK programme. 

     
    Accountabilities:

    Operational delivery 
    • Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the British Council’s Alumni UK online platform (working with external provider to fix bugs, add new features etc)
    • Be the first point of contact for enquires from alumni via the Alumni UK mailbox, ensuring enquiries are dealt with accordingly or redirected. Enquiries could cover technical access issues, reporting of inappropriate content, safeguarding matters etc. 
    • Build a vibrant online community of international UK alumni from all around the world by actively encouraging engagement and collaboration between alumni
    • Work closely with colleagues across the British Council global network to ensure promotion of events and collect content from other programmes. Ensure there are adequate administrators for the alumni platform and that sufficient training is provided. 


    Continuous improvement and development of the Alumni UK platform
    • Work with the Programme Development Manager to scope out future developments for the alumni platform (this will include the lengthy procurement of a fit for purpose Alumni collaboration platform).
    • Project manage the introduction of new features and functionality, working with the technical provider and communicating these changes to the platform users; Alumni, UK HE universities and British Council UK and global staff.
    • Explore new and creative ways to engage international UK alumni online. Test and implement these initiatives with the alumni network on an ongoing basis 
    • Develop and lead a community of practice for alumni platform administrators and be their point of contact for any queries regarding the alumni platform 
    Contract management 
    • Work closely with the alumni platform technical provider to ensure the platform is always fully functional and any issues are reported and dealt with in a timely manner 
    • Manage the contract with the platform provider to ensure they meet all of their commitments 


    Content management 
    • Work closely with the marketing manager to co-ordinate messaging across the alumni platform, direct marketing and social media 
    • Develop content for the alumni platform and be responsible for editing content across the platform to ensure consistency and professionalism 
    • Develop a content plan for the alumni platform and work with content producers to see this delivered 


    Reporting 
    • Be responsible for regular reporting on the alumni platform, utilising the platforms integrated reporting functionality and other available analytics
    • Have full visibility and knowledge of alumni analytics ahead of weekly progress team meetings (via Google analytics).

    About the role:

    The Global Procurement function is split into clusters and this role will report to a Senior Procurement Manager. The role will support the implementation of a sourcing plan and delivering procurement projects as required within the cluster.     Job Overview

    The Teacher Support Programme (TSP) is the British Council Egypt’s well-established training and mentoring programme for newly qualified teachers. The TSP includes regular input, peer observations, and observations and lesson planning support from an experienced, trained mentor, and the teachers’ have reduced teaching hours for the duration of the TSP. Input and observations are organised around different teaching skills and the programme works to build teachers’ skills, confidence and independence. It is a fast-track professional development programme, with many teachers going on to doing a teaching Diploma soon after completing the TSP and there are now many TSP graduates in management positions around the British Council network

    Role Purpose 

    To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English To provide learners with a rewarding and stimulating English language learning experience

    Main Accountabilities: 

    Plan, prepare, and deliver up to 20 hours of high-quality English Teaching in the first year. The contract after graduation from TSP, teaching hours will be 25 hours per week of high-quality English language teaching that meets the needs of different customer groups taking into account individual learning styles. Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to help manage students’ performance throughout the course, and actively promote learner autonomy professional development and performance management to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning and maintain British Council’s position at the forefront of best ELT practices.  In the initial year of the contract, Teachers on the TSP undertake:

    Training Programme

    Attendance at training sessions and INSETTS as scheduled (up to 2 per week) 2 observations by the training / management team / mentor per term 3 peer observations by teacher on the TSP per term

    Meetings
