    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Installing cable trunking & Terminal rails on control panel back plates as per drawings Assembling components and carrying out wiring fitting cable ferrules, crimping & terminating of the cables again from drawings Carrying out point to point checks on completion

    Booth Welsh is working with a well-established engineering business seeking an accomplished Lead Design Engineer to take ownership of product design activity and provide technical leadership across projects.This is a senior, hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys shaping design direction, mentoring others, and seeing products delivered from concept through to production.
    The Role
    As Lead Design Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the full design lifecycle while setting standards and driving best practice across the team.Key responsibilities include:Owning and leading the design process from concept through to manufacture, ensuring functionality, quality, and manufacturabilityProviding advanced CAD leadership, including review and approval of complex modelsEstablishing, maintaining, and enforcing design standardsLeading formal design reviews including DFMA, FMEA, RCA, and related assessmentsWorking closely with manufacturing, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to deliver cost-effective solutions on timeMentoring and developing engineers and designers, building capability within the teamEmbedding human-centred design principles, including ergonomics and usabilityTranslating A-surface industrial design concepts into manufacturable components, with consideration of CMF and design intent
    About You
    You'll be an experienced design engineer with both technical depth and the ability to lead others.You will likely have:A degree in Mechanical, Product, or Design Engineering (or similar)At least 7 years' relevant design engineering experience, including leadership or senior responsibilityStrong CAD capability with experience defining and applying design standardsA proven track record of delivering products from concept to launchSolid understanding of manufacturing processes, design standards, and regulatory requirementsThe confidence to lead technical discussions and influence across teamsA balanced approach that combines creativity with sound engineering judgement
