This apprenticeship also consists of:OAL Level 3 Diploma in Food and Drink Engineering MaintenanceIncluded in the 4 years is residential engineering training at the Training Provider, 20 weeks in year one, 14 weeks in the second year, and 6 weeks in the third year. The fourth year is spent consolidating learning and preparing for the End Point AssessmentAccess at our affiliated Training Provider to the latest technology in a purpose-built training facility equipped with the very latest machinery and process control systemsPotential to study to a higher level e.g. HNC or Degree on successful completionWhat happens after you complete the apprenticeship?
    On successful completion, typically our apprentices will move in to the shift engineering teams. As part of the engineering team you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the performance of all plant and equipment to achieve maximum machine availability targets. This is a unique opportunity to combine hands-on engineering expertise with leadership and training, supporting apprentices, engineers, and new starters.In this role, you will oversee apprenticeship development in line with training provider standards and implement structured engineering training programmes. You will also play a vital role in driving continuous improvement, technical excellence, and engineering performance across our sites. This role is also responsible for overseeing onsite and other CPC Foods sites apprentices’ development in line with provider standards, conducting training needs analysis for engineers and new starters.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide proactive leadership to ensure the effective delivery of all engineering functional requirements.Ensure engineering processes and procedures are controlled and maintained to a high standard.Foster an innovative environment that encourages team participation, quality improvements, and strong communication.Lead, engage, and develop engineering colleagues to ensure they achieve their full potential.Promote and champion health and safety to ensure a safe working environment for all colleagues.Identify and deliver cost reduction and continuous improvement opportunities across the engineering function.Monitor departmental KPIs and drive performance improvements to meet or exceed targets.Liaise with external apprenticeship assessors to ensure apprentices remain on schedule with training and development plans.Mentor apprentices in developing their engineering knowledge and practical skills.Develop and implement structured training programs for apprentices, engineers, and new starters across the group.Monitor apprentice performance, appraisals, and competency development.Oversee engineering activities including fault diagnostics, equipment installation, and plant maintenance to ensure optimum operational efficiency.Skills and ExperienceNVQ Level 3 Engineering qualification or equivalent.Experience within an engineering role in a food manufacturing environment.Strong technical knowledge with the ability to work across both mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines.Experience working with PLC systems and electrical fault finding.Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, including knowledge of pneumatics and electronics.Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office.IOSH Managing Safely qualification or equivalent Health & Safety certification.CIEH Level 2 Food Safety for Manufacturing.HACCP and GMP knowledge.Understanding of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).Strong written and verbal communication skills.What We OfferSalary is to be agreed with the successful candidate and is dependent upon experience.33 days holiday including bank holidays, with an option to buy up to 5 extra days.Opportunity to shape the development of apprentices and engineering talent.A key role within a forward-thinking engineering team.A supportive and collaborative working environment.
