This is a full-time permanent position. Standard hours are 40 Hours, Monday – Friday. We offer a hybrid working policy of up to 2 days at home after 3 months of working for the company.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineer or Technician to join our existing team on a full-time basis. You will be responsible for the investigation, design and delivery of a range of road improvement projects on the NW Unit as part of an annual programme of investment.

Highway Maintenance Operative

We have vacancies for Highway Maintenance Operatives to join our existing operations team. The Highway Maintenance Operative will report to Operations Supervisor and Operations Manager and will be responsible to help keeping Scotland moving.
This is a full-time role with Standby Rota and Overtime available.
Responsibilities and Activities
The erection and removal of temporary signs and barriers (permanent signs and barriers). Preparation, application, compaction and removal of soils, rocks, coated and other materials. Hot material patching by hand. Drainage works, excavation, pipe laying, kerb laying, scrub cutting. Installation and fixing of temporary/permanent road furniture. Operation of power tools, small plant and machinery. Driving vehicles including those with simple attachments such as tractors. Prepare written returns including fault report details. Responsibility for the health and safety of the public, colleagues and yourself. Participating in our winter and emergency response service on a standby rota basis. Winter maintenance duties which include fitting gritter body and blade, driving gritter and spread salt by hand if required.Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Previous experience as a roadworker is desirable, however training can be provided. There is a requirement to undertake training and to achieve competence in aspects of the job. Knowledge of the requirement for Health and Safety rules and procedures. Physically fit for working in sometimes arduous conditions. Experience of using small plant.
