This General Adolescent Unit sits within our CAMHS Crisis Pathway, which offers services to young people on the edge of crisis or in crisis. There is a dynamic therapies team (psychology, systemic therapy, art therapy and music therapy) who work within a multi-disciplinary team, supporting young people (13-18yrs) with complex needs including trauma. The Unit is expanding to offer 15 beds to young people, and the therapies team is growing to meet that increased need. The role will be supervised by a senior psychologist within the unit and supported by a wider MDT of experienced practitioners. There is an opportunity to supervise an assistant psychologist on the Unit. Main duties of the job The job is ideal for someone who is interested in working to engage young people who are in crisis and need support to draw out their strengths and hope for the future. The role involves building consistent, supportive relationships with young people and being able to help a young person generalise those relationships to other adults around them. There will be some psychological assessment, for the purposes of formulation driven intervention with young people on the unit. The unit has an current psychology group program which this role would support with the ongoing delivery and development of. You will be liaising and coordinating with a range of teams and organisations across Barnet, Enfield, and Haringey, including CAMHS providers, social care teams, Tier 4 providers, schools, and other community health providers. The service is NCL wide but has two teams working across two localities: 1) Camden and Islington 2) Barnet, Enfield, and Haringey. The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and will also need to be skilled at multi-agency working. The NCL Home Treatment Team is a new service delivering high quality co-ordinated care to young people aged 13 up to 18th birthday and their families in mental health crisis across the London Boroughs of Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington. The service provides 12 weeks of intensive evidence-based support to prevent admission or facilitate safe early discharge from Tier 4 inpatient units. The team works in close collaboration with CAMHS Assertive Outreach Teams, Tier 4 inpatient units, local authorities, and emergency services. The post holder will work shifts to cover the service hours – 09:00-20:00 weekdays and 12pm-8pm weekends. The role primarily entails providing therapeutic assessments and brief interventions to children, young people and their families referred to the service.
