Field Service Engineer Location: Corby, Northamptonshire Salary: £37,000 - £40,000 depending on experience, with flexibility for the right candidate who can demonstrate strong technical capability and relevant industry experience. About the Role Barker Ross is recruiting on behalf of a leading specialist in mechanised irrigation and water management. We are looking for a skilled Field Service Engineer to join their growing team, providing installation, servicing, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems at customer sites across the UK. This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll spend the majority of your time working in the field, with occasional workshop-based duties, supporting customers with the installation, fault finding, and maintenance of large-scale irrigation equipment. You'll work on equipment including: Irrigation booms and hose reels Pumps and pumping systems Hydraulic systems Diesel-driven equipment Electrical control systems, automation, sensors, and controls The role involves diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, testing equipment, and ensuring systems operate efficiently while delivering excellent customer service. Key Responsibilities Install, service, maintain, and repair irrigation systems at customer sites Diagnose faults on pumps, motors, valves, hydraulic systems, diesel engines, sensors, and electrical control systems Carry out planned preventative maintenance and emergency breakdown repairs Read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals Liaise professionally with customers, suppliers, and internal teams Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and performance Complete service reports and maintain accurate records Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company standards About You We welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Plant Engineering, Forklift Truck (FLT) Engineering , or similar field service roles.
