    Main Purpose of the Role To lead, optimise and continuously improve warehouse operations by driving a high-performance culture, ensuring outstanding service delivery, and aligning daily activities to organisational goals. This role is responsible for operational excellence, strategic planning, people leadership and financial stewardship across the warehouse function. Key Responsibilities Leadership & People Development: Lead, coach and develop Warehouse Supervisors to deliver operational excellence and consistent leadership across all shifts. Foster an environment of accountability, resilience and adaptability within the team. Support recruitment, selection and onboarding to build a high-performing operational team. Oversee appraisal processes, competence assessments and ongoing development frameworks. Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement: Analyse complex operational challenges and implement pragmatic, effective solutions. Promote and uphold company values across all warehouse activities. Drive best-practice logistics processes, ensuring consistency and continuous improvement. Prioritise workflows across multiple warehouse processes to maximise efficiency and service quality. Ensure inbound and outbound schedule adherence while maintaining productivity and service targets. Performance, Data & Reporting: Analyse daily performance metrics, identify performance gaps and set measurable improvement targets. Set, review and assess KPI performance for direct reports, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Monitor operational accuracy, including picking errors and stock integrity, taking corrective action where needed. Report on operational outcomes, highlighting risks, opportunities and required interventions. Financial & Resource Management: Lead budget management, cost-control measures and forecasting activities. Allocate resources effectively across teams, processes and peak workloads. Drive initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and reduce non-value-added cost. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Ensure effective communication across teams and key stakeholders to maintain alignment and support collaborative working. Work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve logistics challenges while protecting service quality. Safety, Risk & Compliance: Ensure all warehouse activities comply with Health & Safety and environmental requirements. Promote a proactive safety culture through leadership behaviours, standards and accountability. Nature & Scope: People Responsibility: Leadership of a large operational team, including Warehouse Supervisors and multi-disciplinary colleagues. Financial Responsibility: Accountability for delivery of KPIs and departmental budget performance. Authority Limits: Operates within company policies and governance frameworks. Essential Skills & Experience: Proven leadership capability with experience managing large operational teams. Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder-management skills. Customer-focused mindset with high attention to detail. Advanced analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to interpret operational data. Experience in FMCG or high-volume warehouse operations. Desirable Skills & Experience: Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). Background managing large operational teams within logistics or distribution. Exposure to transport operations. Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma). Essential Skills & Experience: Strong literacy and numeracy skills. Effective communicator with the ability to engage and influence at all levels. Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams. Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise under pressure. Resilient, adaptable and solutions focused. Experience working in a fast-paced FMCG or warehouse environment. Desirable Skills & Experience: RTITB-accredited licences (FLT, PPT, etc.). Supervisory experience within a warehouse or distribution operation. Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). Exposure to transport operations. NVQ Level 3 in Management or equivalent. Lean Six Sigma knowledge or experience.
