    Job Description
    This is a remote position.An opportunity has arisen for an experienced employment solicitor to join a growing specialist team on a flexible, consultancy basis. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, high-quality work and a modern, fee‑share model of practice.
    The role
    Handle a broad mix of contentious and non‑contentious employment work for both employers and individuals, including unfair dismissal, discrimination, redundancy and contractual matters.
    Draft, review and negotiate contracts of employment, consultancy agreements, policies, handbooks and settlement agreements.
    Advise on TUPE, reorganisations, restructures, redundancies and day‑to‑day HR and employee relations issues (grievances, disciplinary, performance and absence management).
    Represent clients in Employment Tribunal proceedings, including drafting pleadings, managing disclosure and preparing witness evidence where required.
    Consultant model
    Self‑employed consultant arrangement with work carried out under the umbrella of a specialist employment law firm, with full access to systems, PI cover and compliance framework.
    Fee‑share structure with strong earning potential, reflecting the work you undertake and any clients you introduce.

    About you
    Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with at least 5 years’ PQE in employment law (more experienced candidates are welcome to apply).
    Strong experience acting for both employers and employees across the full spectrum of employment law issues.
    Commercial, pragmatic approach, with the confidence to manage your own matters and build lasting client relationships.
    Comfortable working independently within a remote or hybrid set‑up, with good organisational and communication skills.

    Requirements  

    Qualified solicitor with minimum 8 years’ PQE in employment law, ideally with experience in both private practice and in‑house/ER environments.

    Exclusive or near‑exclusive focus on employment law: unfair/constructive dismissal, discrimination, redundancy, TUPE, whistle-blowing, contractual disputes, and settlement agreements for employers and senior employees.

    Proven track record handling Employment Tribunal litigation (including multi‑day hearings), drafting pleadings and bundles, and working closely with or as advocate alongside counsel.

    Comfortable advising both employers (SMEs, PLCs, public bodies) and senior employees/executives, with a commercial, solutions‑driven approach rather than purely black‑letter advice.

    Strong experience drafting and reviewing contracts, policies, handbooks, and HR documentation, plus advising on restructures, TUPE and high‑risk exits.

    Demonstrable ability to build and maintain own caseload and client relationships, with willingness to contribute to business development, networking and thought leadership (articles, webinars, training).

    Experienced Personal Injury Legal Secretary

    We are delighted to be partnering with a well-established, claimant-focused firm in Portsmouth as they look to appoint an experienced Personal Injury Legal Secretary to support their busy team.

    The Role
    You will provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support to fee earners within a thriving Personal Injury department handling serious injury claims on a no-win, no-fee basis. Typical duties will include:
    Audio and copy typing of correspondence, forms, schedules and legal documents.
    Managing diaries, arranging appointments, and organising meetings and conferences with clients, counsel and experts.
    Preparing, maintaining and archiving client files, including opening, closing and electronic filing.
    Assisting with case preparation, including court bundles, medical evidence and other supporting documentation for cases like road traffic accidents, workplace injuries, brain/spinal injuries, and catastrophic claims.
    Handling incoming calls and emails, dealing with routine queries and providing an excellent client experience with a focus on rehabilitation and support.
    General administrative support such as photocopying, scanning, post and billing administration.

    About You
    The successful candidate will:
    Have solid experience as a Legal Secretary, ideally within Personal Injury or Clinical Negligence
    Possess fast, accurate audio typing and strong IT skills, including case management systems and Microsoft Office.
    Be highly organised, able to prioritise a busy workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced team.
    Have a professional, confident manner with clients, colleagues and external parties.
    Demonstrate strong attention to detail and a proactive, team-focused approach.
