    The Senior Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and controlling integrated project schedules for large-scale power transmission projects, including substations, overhead lines (OHL), underground cables, and grid infrastructure.The role ensures accurate planning, progress monitoring, forecasting, and schedule risk analysis to support safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery of complex transmission programmes.Key Responsibilities1. Schedule Development & IntegrationDevelop and maintain detailed Level 3–5 schedules for transmission projects.Build logic-linked, resource-loaded programmes using Primavera P6 or equivalent.Integrate engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and outage plans.Ensure alignment with regulatory milestones and client requirements.2. Accountable for ensuring appropriate technical processes and operating procedures are developed, followed, and formally implemented by the business.⚡ Develop detailed plans for the decommissioning of electrical systems, ensuring minimal disruption to surrounding works and operations.️ Conduct site assessments to identify electrical assets requiring removal or isolation. Coordinate with stakeholders to establish decommissioning schedules, working with waste, logistics, and other site interfaces.⚠️ Perform risk assessments and implement mitigation measures to prevent electrical hazards. Oversee lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures to safely disconnect power sources. Identify opportunities for reusing or repurposing electrical components. Defer to the  Decommissioning Lead Engineer and/or  Engineering Integration Manager to resolve issues of the highest level of impact. Deliver technical training in one-to-one sessions and proactively transfer knowledge to develop others through coaching, mentoring, or other appropriate approaches.     Qualifications

    Essential: Recognised degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Chartered Engineer with a recognised institution for electrical engineering. Extensive experience in the application of appropriate design codes and regulations. Experience with LOTO procedures and electrical hazard mitigation. Knowledge of building electrical systems, including distribution networks, emergency power, and control systems. Familiar with BS 7671 regulations.⚖️ Experience of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974. Proven engineering leadership experience, with a track record of delivering engineered solutions to complex programmes and projects.️ Extensive experience working in a decommissioning, demolition, or facility decommissioning environment. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.️ Excellent communication and coordination abilities. Desirable:☢️ Experience working on nuclear sites. Proficiency in electrical design software (preferably SolidWorks). Experience of technical leadership in close collaboration with certified project managers. Other Duties: In addition to the responsibilities listed above, the post holder may be required to undertake other types of engineering work in response to fluctuations in resource requirements or to develop additional engineering competencies.
