    As a Residential Support Worker, you’ll provide emotional support to our young people and help with day-to-day activities such as getting washed, dressed and out to school. If you are working a shift during the weekend, you will barely be on-site at the home because the fun is elsewhere think theme parks, bowling alleys, cinemas and zoos. You’ll have so much fun that you’ll almost forget you’re at work.
    With the good times will come challenging times, with our homes accommodating young people with autism, learning difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs. Although our Residential Support Workers tell us that the strong relationships and lasting memories that you create together will more than make up for these challenges. For them, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a young person overcome difficulties and progress.
    Our children’s home is situated between Mildenhall and Lakenheath, in the Forest Heath District which boarders onto Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. It’s a 5-bedded home for males and females aged 8 - 18 with emotional, behavioural difficulties and other complex needs associated. The home seeks to provide a safe and understanding ethos in which the young person can be assisted to address their behaviours and to take responsibility for their own actions. The emphasis of the work is by way of intervention and to challenge the inappropriate behaviour through a holistic therapeutic approach.
    Our home has a small holding where we keep farm animals which provides environment enrichment for our young people. Our staff and young people help to look after these.

    Sedgemoor Manor is a specialist day school for young people who have needs associated with a diagnosis on the autistic spectrum/SPLD and are aged between 7 and 19 years. Our tailored approach means we can support young people with a wide range of learning difficulties. We accept that young people who are referred to us may have previously experienced a ‘cycle of failure’ and our aim is to have a transformational impact on their lives by them experiencing a ‘culture of success’. We support all young people to achieve successful outcomes so that they can progress to experience fulfilling and rewarding lives.
    About youYou will be a key member of our education support team, working as part of a specialist team of Teachers and Therapists to deliver personalised curriculum packages that motivate and inspire our students.Experience as a Teaching Assistant or carer would be beneficial, but as long as you have the communication skills and passion required for this role and a willingness to learn, we will give you all the training and development you need to succeed.Whilst not essential, experience of supporting children with SLD and complex needs would be an advantage.Successful candidates will contribute to the effective implementation of individual programmes by supporting the teaching and learning, social and independence activities and experiences, which enhance the learning and development of children and young people.Being emotionally available and resilient is an important characteristic for this role.
