About this career opportunity.The position is for a six-month fixed term contract as an Environmental (Contaminated Land) Consultant to work within our Land Quality team in London. Clients will include private developers, public sector authorities and other organisations. You will be working in a multi-disciplinary environment alongside other environmental, planning, engineering and urban design specialists, and will work closely with other technical disciplines (both internal and external to Arup) to deliver high quality environmental consultancy services. In this role, you’ll be largely office based, with some site work, for example, to supervise ground investigations and remediation projects. From time-to-time site work may be more intensive.You will be responsible for: Working under the direction of senior staff and sharing work with graduates and other junior staff. Undertaking contamination desk studies and site inspections/ audits.Designing and supervising [contamination] ground investigations/ contractors, including site work, scheduling chemical testing and checking factual investigation reports and invoices (note that Arup does not undertake the site work, we design and supervise in conjunction with geotechnical colleagues) Assessing and managing data, particularly using GIS, OpenGround, Excel, risk assessment software and other tools such as 3D modelling in Leapfrog. Preparation of contamination assessment reports, risk assessments, remediation strategies and verification reports.
