As specialists in the in-house legal market , it's rare that we'll represent a law firm. However, we're making an exception for one of our long-standing clients because this is anything but a typical private practice role. One of the Partners in this team made the move from an in-house legal role because the opportunity to join one of the UK's leading education litigation practices was simply too good to ignore. The environment, quality of work and reputation of the team made the move an overwhelmingly positive one. Since then, the already well-established practice has continued to go from strength to strength and is now at the point where it's having to consider turning work away. They're looking for a Senior Litigation Associate / Legal Director (6+ PQE) to help support the continued growth of this exceptional team. The work You'll act for universities, further education colleges and private education providers on a fascinating range of disputes including: • Student breach of contract claims • Equality Act claims • Judicial Reviews • Consumer law disputes • Regulatory challenges • Broader commercial disputes where required Unlike many commercial litigation roles, you'll spend much of your time dealing with individuals rather than large corporates. Most claimants are litigants in person, so success comes from combining excellent technical litigation skills with empathy, sound judgement and strong communication. You'll manage your own caseload from instruction through to resolution, working closely with senior stakeholders within client organisations to balance legal, commercial and reputational considerations. Importantly, this isn't a volume litigation environment. You'll have the time to think, advise and make sensible strategic decisions. Who might this suit? You don't need to have spent your career in education litigation. We're interested in experienced litigators with excellent technical ability and a thorough understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules who enjoy running matters independently. Due to strong performance, a newly created role for a finance lawyer has arisen in this organisation and whilst lending matters are a key component of the work, the legal team covers a very broad remit, encompassing a wide scope of commercial contracts, treasury work, financial services regulation and product development. We are looking for candidates who: Have a background in general banking/LMA suite of documentation (but whose practice could alternatively have a trade, receivables, asset, real estate or project finance focus). Bring additional experience in commercial contracts drafting and negotiation (e.g. technology, outsourcing or service-level agreements); Have a sense of the regulatory environment that banking entities occupy and can advise on relevant/upcoming regulatory change in this arena; Ideally have treasury experience, though this is by no means a pre-requisite. PQE) non-contentious regulatory lawyer to join their established regulatory team that primarily supports the investment bank across EMEA, but also lends support to the wider business which encompasses the investment management and retail businesses as and when required. They invest in a diversified portfolio of UK MLI with a market-leading tech platform to support the ongoing digitization of the real estate sector. We are now carrying out a search to find a junior-mid level lawyer with a real estate/construction/development skill-set to join their office in Stockport, South Manchester and who will report to the Head of Legal, who is based out of the same office. The successful candidate will shepherd the business as it continues to grow and carry out a broad legal role working closely with the other teams based in Birmingham and London.
