    A unique opportunity to join AWS as a Data Centre Technician. You will become the primary resolver for your support team, and gain troubleshooting skills on one or more operating systems. You will be able to troubleshoot and solve all but the most complex infrastructure issues. Issues are escalated to the appropriate resolver groups when necessary. You create and maintain documentation on technologies you support and are able to convey Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) to junior staff. You understand all aspects of the equipment you support. You know how to innovate and make decisions on his/her own, but also know how to take direction when it is given, paying attention to all details involved.

    You are able to execute small projects on your own and work with your manager in planning and executing larger local projects. You act as an escalation point for junior technicians. You understand all aspects of the equipment you support.

    Regular work schedule is Monday to Friday, with participation in an on-call rotation and requirement to provide shift coverage during emergencies. This may include responding to after-hours calls, working outside regular business hours, 12-hour shifts, or rotating shifts to ensure operational coverage during critical situations.     The Data Centre Chief Engineer (CE) is responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data centre is operating at peak efficiency. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. The CE serves as an expert technical resource reporting to a site’s Data Centre Facility Manager and interacting with onsite Engineering Operations Technicians (EOT) and any third party vendors. They are expected to be a singular focal point for all facility operations within a given data centre and to support Amazon within its owned and operated data centres. Data centre equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime.
    Also expected from the CE is the ability to manage small-to-medium impacting projects from conception to completion. These projects involve large amounts of independent work as well as collaboration with external support groups including engineering, automation, processing, and finance in both local and global settings. The CE will be tasked with creating and delivering on key milestones, obtaining and tracking quotes for all necessary costs, and documenting project results for future implementation at other facilities. The goals of such projects are for the CE to drive innovation and resiliency while reducing operational costs in the facilities.
    The CE directs, trains and supports EOT’s in their role of providing hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operations. Implementation and execution of site/equipment-specific training exercises is also expected. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand-by diesel generators, switch-gear, UPS’s, PDC’s, AHU’s, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFD’s, and building automation systems.


    Responsibilities:
    - Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in a data centre.
    - Operate independently with limited direct management
    - Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the data centre, escalating to the Data Centre Facility Manager as needed, and work OT hours as needed to support site stability.
    - Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
    - Troubleshoot and report of facility and data sever-level events within internal SLA
    - Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams
    - Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians
    - Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendor and Amazon staff

    This engineering operations technician position serves as the on-site maintenance technician and operator for an AWS data centre.

    The Data Centre Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) is responsible for operating and maintaining all electrical, mechanical, emergency generator, and fire/life safety equipment within the data centre.     The Network Design and Deployment (NIDD) team oversees the design and deployment of cable infrastructure within ADC regions. This includes milestone review, comment issuance, and ensuring accuracy and efficiency. NIDD planning also assesses partner team designs to ensure compliance with AWS and customer requirements, focusing on cabling pathways, sizing, location, type, classification, and installation. The team provides telecom room designs, including sizing and power for various rooms, as well as user-outlet designs.     Key job responsibilities
    • You will own the End-to -End delivery of off site water infrastructure solutions, from scoping to physical delivery. This requires you to project manage as the business and technical owner of all aspects of the delivery.
