About the role This is an exciting opportunity to join Synchronicity Earth, a global conservation charity working to protect some of the world's most overlooked and threatened species and ecosystems. Working with more than 130 conservation partners worldwide, Synchronicity Earth takes a long-term, trust-based approach to funding conservation and supporting locally led solutions. As Finance Business Partner, you'll act as the strategic bridge between Finance and Programmes, building on a business partnering approach that has transformed how the organisation uses financial information. This is not simply a financial accounting role: you'll work closely with budget holders, programme leads and senior colleagues to strengthen planning, improve decision-making and ensure funding is managed thoughtfully across a complex portfolio of programmes and grants. You'll also lead financial due diligence for grant partners and suppliers, oversee forecasting and variance reporting, improve dashboards and information flow, and manage and develop the Finance Analyst. What you'll be doing Partnering with programme leads and budget holders to support planning, forecasting, decision-making and effective financial management across multiple programmes and grants. Leading financial due diligence and risk assessments for grant partners, advising programme colleagues and following up recommendations where required. Managing complex and flexible funding arrangements, including programme allocations, funding gaps and long-term financial models. Overseeing monthly programme reporting, budget-versus-actual analysis and commentary for the Leadership Team and Board. Monitoring grant pipelines and ensuring Salesforce and the finance system reconcile, with clear and reliable data across Finance and Programmes. Developing dashboards, reporting tools and more efficient processes to improve visibility, automation and information flow. Supporting cashflow forecasting, including oversight of endowments and subscription redemptions managed through external investment providers. Managing and mentoring the Finance Analyst, helping them develop their technical, analytical and business partnering skills. About you You'll be a qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or bring strong relevant experience, with a genuine emphasis on finance business partnering rather than purely transactional or technical accounting. You'll be confident working with non-finance colleagues, able to manage several programmes, grants and stakeholder relationships at once, and comfortable challenging or pushing back constructively when needed. You'll combine strong analysis and attention to detail with the ability to see the wider organisational picture. Experience of grant-making, due diligence, flexible funding, CRM systems or the charity sector would be helpful, but is not essential. More important is a collaborative, pragmatic approach, confidence working autonomously and a real interest in improving systems, reporting and processes. About Synchronicity Earth Synchronicity Earth is an ambitious conservation charity dedicated to protecting the world's most overlooked species and ecosystems. By working in partnership with local organisations around the world, it helps deliver long-term conservation solutions that benefit both biodiversity and the communities protecting it. Recruitment process We are partnering exclusively on finance recruitment with Altum Consulting. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so please do not delay in applying. Altum will speak with shortlisted candidates before introducing them to Synchronicity Earth for interview. Our commitment to inclusion We're committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. We actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, particularly candidates from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities and people with disabilities, who remain underrepresented within the conservation and environmental sector. We also warmly welcome applications from people returning to work after a career break. We're happy to discuss flexible working arrangements and reasonable adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process. Working with more than 130 conservation partners worldwide, Synchronicity Earth takes a long-term, trust-based approach to funding conservation and supporting locally led solutions. As Finance Analyst, you'll work closely with the Finance Business Partner to support grants, due diligence, financial planning and reporting across a varied portfolio of conservation, culture and hosted initiatives. In a small organisation, you'll have the opportunity to wear many hats, build relationships across teams and make a visible contribution to how finance supports the organisation. This role will suit someone who is curious about data, systems and process improvement - not simply someone looking to learn an established set of processes. You'll help improve the way information moves between Finance and Programmes, use Excel and Salesforce to strengthen reporting, and develop the confidence to support and challenge budget holders constructively. What you'll be doing Supporting the Finance Business Partner with the pipeline of planned grants and maintaining clear, consistent communication with programme colleagues. Carrying out due diligence and risk assessments for lower-risk grant partners, tracking recommendations and following up with partners where needed. Providing grants and contracts administration across conservation, culture and hosted initiatives, including support to the SHOAL initiative. Acting as the main Finance contact for Salesforce queries, troubleshooting workflows and helping colleagues use the system effectively. Maintaining data integrity between Salesforce and NetSuite and helping automate tracking and reconciliation wherever possible. Developing reports, dashboards and Excel models to improve visibility of grants, due diligence, budgets and programme funding. Supporting monthly management accounts, budgeting, forecasting and programme funding reports for budget holders, the Leadership Team and Board. Identifying opportunities to streamline processes and working with Finance, Programmes and Operations to put improvements into practice. About you You may be studying towards an accountancy qualification or qualified by experience. Strong technical accounting knowledge is less important than curiosity, analytical ability and the drive to improve how things are done. You'll be confident using Excel and working with data, with an interest in systems, automation and process improvement. You'll also be a strong communicator who enjoys speaking with colleagues across the organisation, can build trusted relationships and is comfortable managing several grants, programmes and priorities at the same time. Experience of grant administration, CRM systems - ideally Salesforce - large datasets or financial reporting would be helpful. You'll be proactive, adaptable and willing to question existing processes rather than simply follow them.
