    Would you like to work for a well established consultancy who provide multi-disciplinary services in areas including Structural and Civil Engineering, Building Surveying, Land Surveying, Transport and Highway Engineering? They have offices in several locations with around 100 staff in the business.

    Their newest office is Cambridge and they are looking for a senior structural engineering candidate to work at Associate Director level, who could be based here and help take the lead on developing and growing this currently small office.

    This role would suit a Chartered (ICE or IStructE) structural engineer with significant experience in buildings design, who is looking for a new challenge. You should be a pro-active, self- starting individual with strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills and the ability to develop client relationships and win new business to help grow the current team. The role will include both hands on design and project delivery responsibilities.

    The firm have a friendly and supportive working environment, good morale, and a low staff turnover.

    In addition to basic salary, there is 25 days holiday (with option to buy extra), death in service benefit, pension, various social activities, income protection scheme, pension, flexible working, professional fees paid and further extensive benefits.

    I'm currently supporting a leading multidisciplinary consultancy delivering a major transformation programme at Stansted Airport, and they're looking to appoint multiple Project Engineers on a 12-month contract basis.

    These roles sit across a range of projects within the programme, with opportunities on both design-focused packages and site-based delivery works. This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in a high-profile aviation environment with complex interfaces and stakeholders.

    The Role
    Depending on the project, the Project Engineer will be responsible for a mix of design coordination and on-site delivery activities, including:Managing design coordination, including review of contractor drawings and SME input via systems such as Aconex, ensuring timely close-out of commentsResponding to technical queries related to contractor design and supporting resolution with contractorsOverseeing on-site construction activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standardsIdentifying defects and non-conformances (NCRs), monitoring close-out actions, and escalating issues where requiredReviewing and accepting contractor permit submissions in line with site requirementsSupporting Construction Managers by assisting contractors in removing delivery constraints and blockersLiaising with stakeholders, including the Airfield Change Manager, to ensure smooth execution of worksMonitoring reported progress and validating this against actual site activityProviding technical input on construction methodologies and sequencingReviewing contractor documentation including RAMS, Construction Phase Plans, and CEMPsSupporting the Project Manager with Early Warning Notices (EWNs) and Compensation Events (CEs), including validation of contractor claimsAbout You

    My client is looking for Project Engineers who can demonstrate:A strong civil engineering background, with experience in groundworks and pilingExperience in structural works, including steel frame buildings, bridges, and heavy lifting operationsExposure to fit-out projects, ideally within aviation or transport infrastructureExperience managing design coordination and technical reviewsFamiliarity with document control systems such as AconexStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsWillingness to be site-based at Stansted Airport up to three days per weekPrevious airport experience is highly desirable, though candidates from other complex infrastructure or regulated environments are also encouraged to apply.
