Job Description
The role holder will deliver a departmental strategy within the Engineering team which supports the achievement of the AGS vision and ensure team performance is reviewed and continuously improved.Deliver local asset management services and excellent value engineering for all elements of the airport infrastructure, ensuring the airport continues to work safely, efficiently and sustainably for its passengers and staff.Play an active role delivering asset management responsibilities in line with ISO 55001 in terms of stakeholder engagement, asset data collection, risk assessment and asset maintenance, in support of delivering asset management objectives and developing medium-term investment plans.
Principle accountabilities
To actively manage and own all elements of the Engineering budget making recommendations to ensure that asset management objectives are achieved and providing timely management information on performance indicators.Ensuring financial resources are used in the most cost effective way and that rolling business plans accurately respond to maintenance and investment needs.Safely manage the Engineering team within a clearly defined commercial context, and through this deliver a truly competitive service.Maintain day to day relationships with AGS Asset and Infrastructure team and all Asset Stewards and their representatives and chair monthly maintenance meetings with appropriate stakeholders.Direct the implementation and management of local Asset Management and maintenance processes across the airport, to ensure all assets have inspection, maintenance and replacement/refurbishment plans.Responsible for the quality of computerised maintenance data management tool ensuring all asset information is accurate and in up to date through leadership of the various interfacing departmental functions.Responsible for the management of a live document library for all assets.Identify, analyse and manage risks through risk register and risk assessment techniquesResponsible for delivering a maintenance service that meets the airports group KPIs.Responsible for ensuring that all planned, and corrective, maintenance is completed within SLA targets and meets cost, quality and time targets and that exceptions are appropriately managed.Explore and implement initiatives to improve asset performance and delivery to customers by using key performance indicators and benchmarking to assess results.Accountable for managing all maintenance contracts, ensuring all contracts are operating, and delivering, in accordance with the terms of the contract and agreed KPIs.Accountable for managing a network of key suppliers ensuring delivery against agreed KPIs.Accountable for managing all engineering logistics, ensuring appropriate stock levels are maintained for all critical assets and recorded.Identification and delivery of new sourcing opportunities that will improve safety, cost or performance.Ensure all staff carry out their work in a safe and proper manner, conforming to the appropriate instructions, whilst being fully conversant with Health, Safety and Environmental policies and maintenance best practice.Develop and implement a framework for safe systems of work including management of contractors and third party suppliers to ensure the highest levels of safety, performance and value are delivered.Responsible for the performance of the directly employed technical team and all contractors engaged in works for the airport.Ensure that the skills and competencies of the maintenance delivery team are constantly developed to meet the needs of the business, including coaching and developing individuals to meet the needs of the succession plan.Responsible for the Airport’s landside response to inclement weather.Maintain a day-to-day relationship with the AGS Infrastructure and Assets Team to support asset management objectives and capital project delivery.Maintain close day to day relationship with the airport community, including Projects team and business partners, ensuring any issues are identified and resolved at the earliest opportunity.Develop and grow the commercialisation of the Airport Engineering function through ‘One Stop Shop’, delivering engineering services to campus partners in a mutually commercially beneficial manner, including the construction of competitive tender responses.Direction of critical airport infrastructure and utilities Business Continuity Plans to ensure adequate assurance of fitness for purpose.Work with the Security Management Team to promote the Security Management System culture within the department and across the wider airport campus with a focus on adherence to the principles within the Security Policy.Able to perform the function of Authorising Engineer and competent person for various activities, including Electrical HV, LV, confined spaces and pressure systems, legionella and asbestos.Responsible, through the Maintenance Manager MT, for the complete lifecycle management of the airports extensive and varied vehicle fleet of circa 100 vehicles including LGV/HGV, busses and specialist equipment.Responsible for personal and, if applicable, team compliance with Health and Safety, Security and Environment/Sustainable Development Policies, ensuring working practices minimise risk to self, work colleagues, customers, staff and the environment.To comply with all legal and statutory obligations applicable to this role and ensure that any systems and procedures introduced by the company are effectively implemented and adhered to.Accountable as Asset Steward for Engineering and Utility assets including governance of change.To participate in projects and working parties and to carry out any other duties that may be outside the standard remit for the purpose of personal development, or as may be reasonably required by the Company.Lead change initiatives that will improve team and airport performance.
Qualifications and experience
An Engineering qualification at degree level, or equivalent management and technical experience in a relevant disciplineExtensive experience of facilities and asset management practicesProven ability to lead and develop teamsProven experience of managing large operational budgets and sponsorship of multiple £m of capital asset refurbishment projects annually.Proven experience of managing change.Commercially minded including contract management and development.Ability to communicate, negotiate and influence at all levels.Fully competent in the use of Microsoft Office Products and Collaboration Tools.
