We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a Plater to join our team in Aberdeen Altens.
    Role PurposeThe purpose of this role is to support the delivery of high-quality fabrication and maintenance work across heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and associated pipework. The role involves carrying out precise fabrication, assembly, and repair activities in line with engineering drawings, quality standards, and HSE procedures. Working with a range of materials and complex specifications, the individual will contribute to the efficient operation of the workshop through technical skill, attention to detail, and teamwork.
    AccountabilityResponsible for stripping and re-assembly of heat exchangers and pipework for maintenance To undertake the fabrication of pressure vessels of various diameters and thickness between 10 and 80mmCarry out fabrication on pipework as per engineering drawings with tight tolerancesTo undertake work utilizing different materials including stainless steel, duplex, super duplex and carbon steelCarry out general workshop day to days tasks as and when requiredAdhere to all workshop HSE and quality proceduresTo undertake work independently and as part of the team
    Time served with a Level 3 qualification in welding and fabrication Experience working in a medium to heavy fabrication backgroundBe able to interpret and read engineering drawings with a good understandingDemonstrate an excellent attitude towards company HSE and Quality Heat exchanger and pressure vessel experience Forklift truck qualification preferred but not essential Excellent communication skills and good attention to detail Willingness to learn from others and share best practiceConfident to engage with all levels of the business

    *Please note this role is onsite based, no workshop presence required. We are looking for Machinists that are Scotland / North East of England based. You are paid a retainer / basic salary plus onsite bonuses everyday you are on site with a client.

    Carrying out all aspects of Onsite Machining including:Onsite inspection work.Flange Facing – RF / RTJ / Heat Exchangers.Specialist OEM – Hub connectors and Compact Flanges.Pipe Cutting, Bevelling and Transitioning.Milling – Pump Bases / Keyways other.Drilling and Boring – Stud Removal, Drilling and Tapping.Line Boring – Compressor Housings, Crane alignment Pins, specialist applications.Bespoke Machining and Engineering Projects.Bolt Torque / Tension – MJIs / TMJ I’s.
    Knowledge and experience of ANSI/ASME Standards.Able to complete Inspection reports and site documentation to a high level.Ability in the preparation of portable machine tools and maintenance of equipment.Inspection and maintenance of Tooling on return from site, ensuring equipment is stripped down, serviced and assembly.Able to carry out mechanical surveys and identify solutions for in-situ repairs.

    Carry out the welding of pressure vessels, heat exchangers and pipeworkCarry out welding on different materials and thickness including stainless steel, duplex and carbon steelCarry out welding to X-Ray, MPI, DPI and UT standardsTo use a variety of welding methods ie., TIG, MIG, MMA and SAWCarry out the setting up of welding plant on different jobsEnsure all Company welding logs are completed in line with procedureEnsure all welds have a welder ID mark for trackabilityKeep up to date on the reading of welding proceduresAdhere to all workshop HSE and quality proceduresTo book out of consumables in line with the Company procedureCarry out general workshop day to days tasks as and when requiredTo undertake work independently and as part of the team
    Experience
    Time served with a Level 3 qualification in welding and fabricationDemonstrate being able to weld using MMA, TIG, MIG & SAW (preferred all but not all a necessity)Several years experience of welding with at least one of the aboveExperience working in a medium to heavy fabrication backgroundForklift truck qualification preferred but not essentialFamiliar with Hydro/Power/Petrochemical and Oil and Gas industriesExperience working with different materials types and thicknessesBe able to work to company quality proceduresIdeally have offshore tickets and GWO's for working on wind turbines
